Svetlana, what a great blog!!!! I am very impressed! It looks like you are technically savvy. Could you please explain how you made this voting thing? Thank you in advance.
Keep up good work!

Oh, thank you so much :) I'm really glad to read such an inspiring evaluation!

As for this voting thing, I've just found it in the settings menu of the blog. Actually, I was wondering how to make the page more interesting and scrutinized all the elements that could be added. But my worst expectations seem to come true - nobody visits my blog and nobody votes :'(((

Sveta,
attracting visitors to you blog is quite a daunting task, because one needs to be interesting for them.

That's why you need to promote your blog by visiting other blogs and leaving comments there.
If you look at my old blog (http://american-literature-projects.blogspot.com/), you'll see that many people have been visiting it. How did I lure them? Can you see those two widgets on the left called "My Friends"?

I just joined a few social sites ( http://ex.plode.us and http://www.mybloglog.com/), got registered there, described my interests, and embedded those widgets to monitor who was visiting my blog. I also started reading other people's blogs and leaving comments, and when they saw my interest, they paid me reciprocal visits. That's how many pofessional friendships started...

So, try to make your blog fun to read for non-academic readers, i.e. publish more thoughts of yours, embed nice images, and find people who are interested in F.Cooper's writings. I am sure you'll find many like-minded folks on the Web. You might want to try http://blogsearch.google.com/, or search for similar interests on http://ex.plode.us and http://www.mybloglog.com/.

Good luck with that!
